Gasoline RON 95
RON 95 is the main gasoline grade of Europe and the reference grade for much of the world's gasoline trade.

The grade most engines are built for
European vehicles are designed around 95 octane, and EN 228 makes it the standard unleaded grade. Much of Asia, Latin America and Africa sells it as the regular or mid grade.
Cargoes are priced against regional references. Two of them, Eurobob and RBOB, are blendstocks: they meet the finished specification only once ethanol has been added.

What EN 228 requires
| Property | Reference | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Research octane number | 95 minimum | Resistance to knock under light load. It is the number shown at the pump. |
| Motor octane number | 85 minimum | Resistance to knock under heavy load and high engine speed. |
| Sulfur | 10 mg/kg maximum | Protects the catalytic converter. |
| Benzene | 1.0% by volume maximum | A health limit. Benzene is a carcinogen. |
| Oxygen | 2.7% by mass maximum for E5; 3.7% for E10 | Sets how much ethanol and ether the blend may contain. |
| Vapor pressure | Set by season and climate class | Controls evaporation in heat and starting in cold. It changes with the season. |
Limits are those published in the named standards, given for reference. The specification written into the sales contract governs.
How the grade is supplied
Premium unleaded, RON 95
The finished European grade under EN 228.
Eurobob and RBOB
Blendstocks formulated to meet the finished specification after ethanol is added.
E5 and E10
Finished blends with up to 5% or 10% ethanol by volume.
Storage and shipping
- Cargo sizes. Medium-range product tankers carrying roughly 30,000 to 40,000 tonnes are the usual parcel.
- Volatility. Gasoline is the most volatile clean product. Vapor control applies at loading and discharge.
- Blendstocks. Cargoes often ship as blendstock and are finished with ethanol at the destination terminal.
- Inspection. An independent inspector normally samples and certifies the parcel at the loading port.
Storage and transport are provided by third-party terminal operators and carriers. We coordinate them. How storage and shipping are arranged
